Washi tape & stickers

The fastest way to make a plain page look finished. Tear, stick, lift, restick.

What is washi tape?

Washi tape is a thin, low-tack decorative tape, traditionally made from paper, that tears easily by hand. Because it's only lightly sticky, you can usually reposition it and peel it off many surfaces without leaving a mark. It comes in plain colours, prints and foils, in widths from a few millimetres up to wide "deco" rolls.

Ways to use it

  • Header strips and borders in a bullet journal
  • Tabs on the edge of pages to mark sections
  • Sticking photos, tickets and pressed flowers into a scrapbook
  • Colour-coding cables, jars and storage boxes
  • Sealing envelopes and decorating gift wrap
  • Temporary labels on shelves or freezer boxes

It's low-tack by design, so it isn't the right choice for parcels or anything that must stay shut.

Stickers: which kind?

Planner stickers are functional: checkboxes, appointment flags, habit icons, date covers and headers sized for planner boxes.

Decorative sticker sheets are illustrations and lettering for journals, cards and scrapbooks.

Removable stickers can be moved; permanent ones grip for good. Matt stickers are easier to write on than glossy.

Tape and stickers to browse

Storing a growing collection

Rolls stack neatly on a paper-towel holder or a wooden dowel. Clear boxes with dividers let you sort by colour. Keeping a swatch page in your journal, a short strip of every tape you own, is a quick way to see what you have before you buy more. For the journals themselves, browse notebooks & journals.
